This is the next version of my phone stand, and don’t be fooled, this is no ordinary phone stand. It’s a creation carefully designed to solve problems I’ve experienced with other stands.
This new version is very thin and incredibly light, so I can slip it into my pocket and hardly notice it’s there. The bottom part features almost 100% infill, giving it a heavier, premium feel despite its lightweight design. When the top closes over the base, it makes a satisfying, premium sound. Since the top is extremely light, the stand can be opened without lifting it.
Rather than using one large rod for the main hinge, I added a peg on each side for easier replacement and a lower chance of failure. To compensate for the thinness of the phone hinge frame, I integrated a carbon fiber rod to reinforce it against stress. I’ve completed multiple stress tests on the hinge section, all of which it passed, even after exposure to sub-zero and extremely warm temperatures.
